The more of these simple hacks you put into your daily/weekly practice, the more energy you’ll have, the better you’ll feel about yourself, the faster you’ll grow in all areas of your life and the happier you’ll be.

Game on!

1. Clean up and simplify your life.

The first (and the most effective) step to real beauty in any area of life is to clear out all the crap, clutter and garbage that’s holding you back and slowing you down. Let go. Clean. Simplify. Move on. Start fresh. If you hold onto the old, the new won’t come. This applies to beliefs, habits, emotions, regrets, fears, clothes, relationships, projects, people, ideas, possessions… everything.

Today, make room for new and better things to fill up your life. Let go of the old and start the practice of cleaning and getting rid of everything that’s cluttering your life and draining your energy, happiness and attention.

Start with small, baby steps. Filter emails, switch off notifications, unfollow or unfriend disempowering people and pages on your Facebook newsfeed, or sell or give away the clothes and shoes you never wear.

2. Give it. Share it. Exchange it.

Energy is a medium of exchange. It’s meant to flow back and forth, up and down. It’s designed to be shared and exchanged. The more of it you give, the more of it you receive.

Start giving genuine smiles to random strangers and see what happens.

Start giving spontaneous compliments, high-fives and hugs to your friends, co-workers, partners and even strangers.

Start telling people around you how much you love them and how much you appreciate their presence in your life. Do it today and as often as you can. Don’t wait for tomorrow to tell them. You might be hit by a bus tomorrow and never get a chance to tell your loved ones how much they meant to you.

If you’re not getting back what you’re giving, let them go, move on and give your life juice to someone else. Be the light to people. The universe will reward you, it’s watching 24/7. Have faith.

3. Get some sun.

The sun is the ultimate source of power and energy you can use to heal and increase your power.

There’s a reason why Superman heals faster and grows stronger when he is closer to the sun. There’s a reason why plants use sunlight to grow, and there’s a reason why the entire planet is (slowly) switching to solar energy. If you have immense sunlight where you live, use it to your advantage.

For me, early morning sunlight is the best. I have plenty of it where I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Almost every morning I go to the beautiful rooftop garden in the 38th floor of my condominium and spend 10–15 minutes meditating in sunlight. I take off my shirt, turn towards the sun, open like a sunflower and feel solar energy recharging me.

At the same time I would do some visualization, EFT tapping or just talk out loud to the Universe, telling it how grateful I am for all the amazing events, people, experiences and opportunities the it is sending to me. Sometimes I also observe, touch, smile at and talk to the plants around me.

4. Practice EFT Tapping.

Emotion equals energy in motion. EFT tapping is my ultimate tool for clearing negative emotions, limiting beliefs and disempowering habits, and also for reprogramming my subconscious mind with new empowering beliefs and habits.

I used tapping to quickly clear some very painful emotional trauma from my childhood (physical abuse, losing my hero in a diving accident…), and also to recover from a painful breakup.

Whenever I feel any negative emotion erupting or growing stronger (such as fear, anger, frustration, hate, sadness, disappointment), I face it, deal with it and clear it using EFT tapping.

Whenever I identify a limiting belief, or disempowering behaviour or habit that’s preventing or slowing down my growth, I start reprogramming it with EFT tapping.

EFT tapping works like magic, it costs nothing and it’s super simple too.

5. Practice meditation.

There are too many benefits of practicing meditation to list here, and even more different meditation techniques, so I divided them into two groups:

  1. Meditations that disengage and calm down your mind: You don’t think about anything. This is my #1 transcendental meditation.
  2. Meditations where you engage and stretch your mind: You think about something, you focus on something, you imagine or visualize it. My favorite is Christie Marie Sheldon’s Love and Above morning meditation.

Find and practice anything that works for you.

6. Eat more (raw) food.

The stuff you eat either gives you energy or takes it away from you. Eat as many fresh raw foods (veggies, fruits, seeds, nuts) as possible. These foods contain a lot of life force and energy but don’t drain your energy because they are easy to digest and absorb.

Heating food above 47 °C (105 F) kills almost all of the food’s nutrients. Eating meat also takes lots of energy for digestion and absorption. The human body (in particular, your teeth, saliva, salivary glands, intestinal tract, stomach acid) is not designed to digest and ingest meat. The largest, longest living and strongest animals on this planet are non-meat eaters and they don’t cook their food either. Think about that.

7. Go to bed early and wake up early.

Nature reserved one third of your busy life for sleeping for a reason — so your body and energetic fields could heal, repair and recharge, and you could shine and thrive during the other two thirds of your life.

During the work week I’m in bed at 10pm or 10:30pm latest. Between 10pm and 2am, your body begins releasing loads of lovely healing hormones, such as testosterone and melatonin. If you can’t go to bed and fall asleep at 10pm, you’re doing something wrong and living against how nature designed you to live.

If you think you’re an “evening person” or a “night person,” you’re not. That’s just an excuse because you can’t find better ways to work in distraction-free time and space due to your busy schedule, made-up social demands, kids and all the projects you’re running.

You will be much more energized, productive and better off if you sleep between 10pm–4am or 10pm–6am than between 12pm–6am or 2am–10am.

8. Go to bed hungry (or with light food in your stomach).

Go to bed hungry (ideally by 10pm) and the next morning you will wake up very early and feel like a superhero — fresh, recharged and strong. Sleeping time is meant for healing and recharging, not for digesting the heavy stuff you ate last night for dinner.

Avoid eating high-fat and fried food, meat, processed food, pasta, rice, cheese, bread, dough and sugary food before bed. Have a fresh salad, smoothie or lots of water instead.

9. Hang out with positive and empowering people.

You don’t even have to think of who gives you energy and who drains you — you feel it.

Hang out with people who use positive words, smile a lot, think of solutions, are driven by life, inspire you and uplift you, practice any of the stuff listed in this post and are open to exchange their energy with you.

Get rid or avoid energy vampires who feed by sucking other people’s energy or putting other people down. Yes, help people who need help. Give them light, but don’t let them drag you down.

10. Start creating. Start that project (already).

The hardest thing about getting started is getting started.

I’ve been there too. That state of mind where you’re getting ready to get ready to get started. When you want things to be “just right” before you start. When you wait for all the stars to align in your favor and the “perfect” time to start.

The true reason why you still haven’t “started” lies in your subconscious mind. It’s most likely a combination of fear (fear of being judged, fear of being criticized, fear of being laughed at, fear of failure, fear of success, etc…) and limiting beliefs from your childhood — “I’m not good enough,” “I’m not worth it,” “I don’t have what it takes,” “I don’t deserve it,” and so on…

Just start it, will you? Don’t wait for for your situation to be “perfect.” It never will be. Seek creation and progress, not perfection. Creation and progress are more important than perfection.

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine and I discussed how we both want to launch a blog. To this day, she is still searching for that “perfect” design theme and doing some more work on herself, while I spent close to zero time on searching for the design theme, launched my blog with the default WordPress theme(!), and spend most of the time actually creating, writing and publishing the content. I’ve already published three posts. See the difference? Creation and progress are much more important than perfection.

11. Fast.

By fasting I’m referring to the act of not consuming food.

Fasting is good for your physical body, as well as your spirit and energy. Every 14 days or so, I fast for at least 24 hours. During my fasting day, I don’t eat anything. I only drink tea and water.

The logic behind fasting is very simple: when there’s nothing to digest in your stomach, all of your energy goes into healing and recharging your body.

12. Go beyond your comfort zone every day.

Both your spirit and your mind need novelty to grow and expand. The new experiences you get from doing something outside your norm is what helps your spirit and mind grow. When you do something outside of your comfort zone, you feel great and energized. This is where your growth begins.

How do you know something is beyond your comfort zone? You feel the adrenaline, the butterflies, your heart starts pumping. Raise your hand and speak in meetings. Talk to that woman or man you adore. Go on stage and speak in front of people when the opportunity arises. Step in front of the camera.

13. Be grateful and thankful every day.

Take time each day for a few minutes to be grateful. No matter where you are, who you are with or what you’re doing, there is always something you can be grateful and thankful for. Always and everywhere. People, events, adventures, food on your table, the air you breathe, the warm shower water. Say it loud:

“Dear Universe (God, life, spirit, nature or however you call that higher force), thank you for ______, _______ and _________. Thank you!”

By practicing gratitude, you are essentially sending signals to the universe which will in turn be like: “Ooh la la. Look at this guy. He really appreciates the goodness in his life. I’m going to send him some more of that and even better stuff!
